Statistics

  • A staged house sells for more money:
    • US Housing and Urban Development reports that a staged house sells, on average, 17% higher than an un-staged house.
    • Statistics suggest staged homes sell at an average of 6.32% over what they are listed for. Non-staged homes only average .6% over the listed price.

  • A staged house sells faster:
    • The New York Village Voice reported that the average number of days on the market for a staged house was 13.9 versus 30.9 for an un-staged house.

  • The cost of staging is very reasonable:
    • A 2003 Home Gain Survey of 2000 real-estate agents nationwide found that moderately priced home improvements from $80-$2,800, made in preparation for sale actually yielded the highest return when a house sold.

  • Did you know:
    • Only 10% of home buyers can actually visualize the potential of a home.

  • Over 90% of buyers will view a home online such as on the web or on MLS, and professionally staged homes PROVIDE BEAUTIFUL INTERNET READY PHOTOGRAPHS.

  • In side by side comparison, houses that were staged prior to being placed on the market and those staged after they "had lingered without offers" were remarkable.
    • Those staged prior to listing sold on the average in 8.9 days for 100.3% of the asking price and in some markets as much as 150% of the asking price.
    • Those houses that had not received offers for months prior to being staged, then staged, "sold in 13.7 days on the average...or 13 times faster than otherwise." They sold for an average of 102% of the asking price and like the other pre-staged properties, houses saw in "some markets the offers as high as 150%.
    • Further analysis reveals that houses listed for sale prior to staging, then staged, received pending contracts 20 times faster than un-staged houses. Those listed for sale after staging, received pending contracts 2-3 times faster than un-staged homes.
    • In both scenarios, the equity increase for sellers was 3% minimum or roughly $26,000 minimum return on the "staging investment".
    • What these studies indicate is that staging works for everyone. The realtor, the sellers and even the buyers, who truly see what they are purchasing.
